NCFA Canada (About Us, Join Now)| Craig Asano | August 26, 2014
During the summer of 2014, NCFA Canada participated in an 8 week international internship program organized by the Academic Internship Council (AIC) and was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with summer intern, Gabe Nasr, a student at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley).
During his brief tenure, Gabe produced a series of quality educational video interviews with a wide range of crowdfunding experts in the Canadian industry that can be found in our video library or by directly clicking the following links: Equity Crowdfunding for Real Estate | Institutional Crowdfunding | Crowdlending | Crowdfunding and Universities | Successful Reward-based Campaign Case Studies | Global Crowdfunding | Bitcoin and Crowdfunding.
On behalf of NCFA Canada, our national membership, partners, affiliates, contributors and supporters of the Canadian Crowdfunding industry, we'd like to thank Gabe Nasr for his awesome contributions, collaboration, open-mind, and ability to provide perspective, connect, learn and share during his internship at NCFA, and wish him the best in all his future endeavours. Also good to note that NCFA Canada is lucky to have Gabe as our first US-based Ambassador, based out of San Francisco, California - so if you're in town and want to get in touch re: Crowdfunding contact: gabrielnasr@berkeley.edu.

As my time here at the NCFA Canada comes to a close, I first want to thank Craig Asano for his guidance and leadership during my abroad adventures here. Through his passion for crowdfunding and the aspects related to it, I have come from novice to expert in 8 weeks time, and I am so impressed with what him and the NCFA are doing here in Toronto.
I realized early on in my internship here that the crowdfunding industry in Canada is in need of a common meeting ground for ideas and education on crowdfunding to be shared, and a voice for all aspects of crowdfunding. The NCFA does an amazing job of assisting in the development of this country-wide meeting ground, and I am proud to be a part of it.
Since crowdfunding is such a nascent industry, I could feel it growing every day while here. The potential crowdfunding presents for businesses, education, investments, and arts & culture is stunning, and this potential continues to grow constantly.
I was surprised by how many fields crowdfunding touches. In my role here, I interviewed experts on a vast variety of different topics, then produced a series of video presentations of my interviews for the NCFA website. Each one was so different: from Bitcoin and how crowdfunding is changing the way we look at currency, to equity crowdfunding for real estate and how a common investor can build a small portfolio of properties which they wouldn’t have access to otherwise.
The common thread I found in these interviews, and in the crowdfunding industry in general is a palpable feeling of excitement and curiosity about what crowdfunding can become, and the doors it can open through collaboration between the public and innovative projects.
I feel proud to be have contributed my small voice to this large crowd in its beginning stages, and I can’t wait to see where the skills and experience I’ve developed here take me next.
Thanks for your support!
