Earlier this month Gartner announced it's top 10 tech trends for 2025 at the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo and it got us thinking about the impact of these trends along with strategic opportunities. Agentic AI agents can make autonomous decisions within specific limits and when combined with real-time tracking unlocks new opportunities for proactive asset handling, automated compliance, and improved customer service, making operations faster and more secure for a strong competitive edge. Below is an overview of how some of these opportunities can work. Each use case strengthens security, compliance, and transparency, positioning fintech companies to grow with lower risk and higher efficiency.
Agentic AI agents continuously monitor digital asset activity and account behaviour for anything fraudulent or suspicious. The bot looks at things like how fast transactions happen, the size of transfers, where logins come from, and what devices are used. If a suspect activity happens or someone usually logs in (i.e., from a different country) and then suddenly tries send a big transfer from a different country, the AI will stop this and autonomously step in to protect the account. This might mean pausing the account, asking for additional verification and/or alerting the security team for human review and a closer look.
Agentic AI can build “risk profiles” for each user and benchmark what is normal for their account. Over time as more data is collected and analyzed, this benchmark of what's considered 'normal behaviour' will get stronger. users can adjust how sensitive they want the bot to be in terms of calling out suspicious activity. For example, smaller and expected transactions can pass through the controls smoothly while larger and unusual actions get flagged or temporarily halted until approved.
Why It Matters - Reputation is critical for fintech companies and trust. Proactive and real-time fraud prevention keeps digital assets safe and helps protect the company’s reputation while reducing potential losses. For investors this level of security is crucial to retain customers in digital finance and improves a companies brand and competitive position.
Real-time tracking lets fintech companies keep an eye on digital assets like cryptocurrencies, secure documents, or transactions moving through their networks. Agentic AI helps manage where these assets are and how they’re progressing across different systems, wallets, or cloud spaces while flagging anything unusual along the way. Customers get real-time updates on their assets such as when a transfer is confirmed to be sent or if there's a delay, or when completed. For example, if a customer is waiting for funds and there’s a bottleneck in the process, AI can send a timely notification of the delay and provide an updated estimated arrival time. This keeps customers in the loop and in control of their assets, so they don’t need to worry unnecessarily or constantly check their accounts.
Why It Matters - Providing real-time updates and transparent asset tracking builds a strong relationship and confidence with customers by offering peace of mind. This approach can improve brand loyalty and customer satisfaction.
Agentic AI handles Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance checks by closely monitoring each transaction and asset movement in real time and then comparing them to regulatory standards. If AI notices unusual activity like an unverified account, especially large transaction or a funds transfer to a restricted destination, AI will flag it for review and pause all activity until verified. Also, since AI keeps a digital record of each compliance check and related issues, it makes regulatory reporting much easier, more accurate, and saves money by reducing manual work.
Why It Matters - This helps fintechs massively during a compliance audit or review, helping them avoid fines and save a lot of time. It also reduces the chance of missing important regulatory requirements and other gaps that may exist. For fintech founders this means more streamlined operations and fewer legal concerns/costs. Further, investors will appreciate any company that can handle compliance smoothly as it helps optimize scale and stability.
Adaptive security adds a smart and adaptable layer of protection to managing digital assets that can adjust depending on the potential risk. AI agents monitors user activities like how often transactions occur, what devices are used, and where logins come from to establish a benchmark of what's normal for each user. If something looks unusual like a high value transfer that has never been sent before, then AI will step in with additional security and place on hold or block until verification is received. Over time, the AI will get smarter and start adjusting its security responses as it learns more about each user's habits. Important to note that this approach means strong protection but without making it harder for authentic users which is a key balance in fintech (ie friction point).
Why It Matters - AI can instantly respond to threats without waiting for human intervention which reduces the chance of a security breach (and also saves time and money). This tech helps build customer trust and lowers the risk of losing money to fraud.
Real-time tracking with agentic AI is a game changer for many aspects of fintech transactions, making them more secure, efficient, and customer-centric.
